Given the way Novak Djokovic looked in the third set of his marathon win over Daniil Medvedev Friday, you’d give Taylor Fritz much more than a puncher’s chance to get through to the final.
Especially if he can get Djokovic, who will have less than 24 hours to recover, to a third set. He probably should have, could have. But he didn’t. And Djokovic is into the final.
As for Casper Ruud, he was facing perhaps the best version of Andrey Rublev there has been so far. Except that Rublev regressed big-time during this match, and Ruud was too steady.
Ruud meets Djokovic in Sunday’s final.
