Rafael Nadal was already eliminated, after a pair of straight-set losses.
So his match against Casper Ruud (who is already qualified for the semifinals) was for pride and money. And he got it done, against a Ruud who wasn’t fire.
Total opposite in the night match, with Félix Auger-Aliassime and Taylor Fritz in a shootout for the second semifinal spot in the pool. It was neck-and-neck until the last 10 minutes, when Fritz won it going away after an eight-minute game at 2-3 ended in a break of Auger-Aliassime’s serve.
