MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

WTA – Sunday, March 5, 2023 final results

Proximity to the next stop at Indian Wells means the WTA events in Austin , Texas and Monterrey, Mexico are on a regular Sunday final schedule.

And they couldn’t have asked for much better than No. 1 seed Caroline Garcia vs. No. 3 seed Donna Vekic for the final. Vekic for the win.

In Austin, no doubt they’d have loved an All-American final between Danielle Collins and Katie Volynets.

But the tennis gods decided otherwise. And there will be a Ukrainian favored against a Russian in the singles final. The Ukrainian, Marta Kostyuk, won her first career title. There was not a handshake.

And Cana-Kiwi Erin Routliffe, partnered in a one-off with Aldila Sutjiadi of Indonesia in the Austin doubles, won the title.

(Austin and Monterrey are both one hour behind ET)
