Open Court

MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

It’s Dabrowski & Stefani time as the doubles reunion is on (vid)

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – It must feel, for a lot of players who are only getting their doubles under way on Sunday, that they’ve been in the desert forever.

This year, they spread the opening round over four days, and no one would know in advance which day their first-round match would take place.

But, finally, Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani will get on court and play their first competitive match together as a reunited team.

The two were on FIRE in the summer of 2021, even qualified for the year-end finals based on very few tournaments. But Stefani’s awful on-court knee injury suffered in the semis of the US Open took her out for a year.

In the meantime, Dabrowski went on to great success with Giulana Olmos. And Stefani, once she returned, has been winning pretty much with whomever she’s payed with – including with countryman Rafa Matos at the Australian Open, where they took the mixed.

They’re back today, against the pickup team of Anna Danilina and Asia Muhammad.

Catch it on your favorite stream if you can.

Here they are practicing earlier in the week.
