MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

ATP Madrid – Tuesday, May 2, 2023 final results

There were be two all-Russian matchups in the men’s round of 16.

Both ended in upsets.

As well, Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev was a tough draw for the No. 13 seed Zverev, because he’s been playing pretty well.

But it kind of feels like a bit of heavyweight matchup anyway, even though the German still isn’t back to what he was before his injury last year at Roland Garros. He got roasted – just as he did last year in the final.

The Canucks, Auger-Aliassime and Shapovalov, took the No. 4 seeds for a spot in the doubles semifinals. But fell just short.

(Madrid is six hours ahead of EDT).
