MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

ATP Tour – Wednesday, May 24, 2023 final results

Auger-Aliassime in Lyon in 2019, when he made the final

No. 1 seed Félix Auger-Aliassime, a late wild-card entry, finally got on court in Lyon Wednesday.

With the 28-draw, that’ll happen to top seeds. But there’s also a Saturday final.

Meaning that if he wants to win the tournament, he’ll have to play four matches in four days.

On the plus side, his first opponent was a Spanish qualifier ranked No. 240, which is basically his career high. He’s in Lyon because his ranking wasn’t high enough even to get him into the Roland Garros qualifying this week.

FAA got through, after a tight first set.

(Lyon and Geneva are six hours ahead of EDT).
