ROLAND GARROS – Leylah Fernandez was vying to become the second Canadian into a Roland Garros final, as she and partner Taylor Townsend played the women’s doubles semis.

It was an uphill battle; they played the No. 2 seeds, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula.

They crushed them.

The main event was the first men’s semi, which finally saw a rematch between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, who have played just once and well over a year ago. But an edgy Alcaraz came down with cramps everwhere, after two sets. And what had been a captivating and even matchup became a rout.
