After an early loss in his first grass-court event, Denis Shapovalov was trying to get on the winning track with a potentially tough first round in Halle against Lloyd Harris.

He handled it – the first time in four tries against the South African.

No. 1 seed Daniil Medvedev and No. 2 Stefanos Tsitsipas also saw seeing action on the Monday.

Medvedev didn’t have too many issues; Tsitsipas barely squeaked through.

(‘s-Hertogenbosch and Stuttgart are six hours ahead of EDT).
