The top four seeds – and they are top-class seeds – have reached the quarterfinals in Vienna. And so No. 1 Medvedev plays No. 4 Tsitsipas, and No. 2 Sinner plays No. 3 Rublev.

Those are Grand Slam-level matchups. The top two prevailed.

In Basel, three of the top six six weeds made the weekend – notable among them Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime, who needed this good week and barely squeezed through qualifier Alexander Shevchenko on Friday.

But squeeze through he did. And then he had his way with Holger Rune in the semis on Saturday.
