The veteran Kazakh and the freshly-minted Kazakh – Alexander Bublik and Alexander Shevchenko – met in the singles quarterfinals in Montpellier.
The two had also teamed up for doubles this week, although they withdrew before their scheduled quarterfinal match. The more “senior” Kazakh took it.
Also, Félix Auger-Aliassime defeated the 2020 Australian Open junior boys’ finalist Thursday in Arthur Cazaux. Friday, he took on the 2020 AO junior boys’ champion in Harold Mayot, and had a much easier time of it.
(Montpellier is 6 hours ahead of EST)
