Indian Wells – Saturday, March 16, 2024 final results

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – The women’s doubles final wen first. Which, unlike the men, went more or less according to form with the No. 1 and No. 3 seeds going all the way to the final day.

In the men’s singles semifinal, a blockbuster opener with the two hottest young stars of the game – Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner – going up against each other with the winner assured of being No. 2 in the world come Monday. It looked grim for Alcaraz, but then, he rallied as Sinner faded.

And in the second, No. 4 Daniil Medvedev got a stern test from American Tommy Paul, the No. 17 but very much at home on the slow, gritty desert courts. Until an untimely ankle roll in the second-set tiebreak, it looked to go to the American. And then, it didn’t.
