ROLAND GARROS – Novak Djokovic was the night session against the much-younger Lorenzo Musetti.

For those with a longer memory, Musetti was the kid who won the first two sets against Djokovic in tiebreaks a few years ago – only to absolutely run out of gas and have to retire.

So you knew he can bring it against Djokovic, who isn’t playing as well now as he was then.

The question, as usual with him – would he?

Answer: he did. On a late, late night that started late with an extra match scheduled to beat the rain, to an epic that ended after 3 a.m. And still, Djokovic prevailed.

As well, Canadians Denis Shapovalov and Félix Auger-Aliassime, stopped by rain Friday night, finished up with Auger-Aliassime and Ben Shelton moved into Suzanne-Lenglen from Court 7.

That one was an absolute … blowout for Auger-Aliassime. Shapovalov? He managed a set, but went down in the end. Great day of tennis even if it was a bear to get through.
