MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

RG ’24 – Day 9 women’s singles final results

ROLAND GARROS – More seeds missing. But that means that two of Elina Avanesyan, Varvara Gracheva and Mirra Andreeva could be unseeded quarterfinalists when Sunday is done and dusted.

No. 4 seed Elena Rybakina met the veteran Elina Svitolina, who had beaten her two of the three times they’ve met although all were awhile ago. Svitolina came back from the brink in the first round of the Olympic event in 2021 to steal away the bronze medal. And she defeated her in the final of Strasbourg in the fall of 2020.

Rybakina’s win came on grass at Eastbourne in 2021. Today was fairly routine.

All the favorites won, in straight sets, too. In the end, today is a day belong to the fellas.
