In the last months of his career, Dominic Thiem is playing for the fun of it instead of with any overarching ambition.

So instead of slogging through the Wimbledon qualifying, he used a wild card into Mallorca to have a nice week on grass.

Unfortunately, he drew Gaël Monfils in the first round. At least it was a crowd-pleaser. But he came out on the short end.
