MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

SEEDED!

A maiden grass-court singles final for Leylah Fernandez, who took on No. 6 seed Daria Kasatkina on Saturday in Eastbourne.

Kasatkina was 2-0 vs Fernandez – a tight one in Rome in 2022 that went to the Russian in a third-set tiebreak, and an easy win for her in San Diego that fall.

It is Fernandez’s first final since Hong Kong last fall, which she won. In the end, Kasatkina just stayed in there, and Fernandez fell away a bit at the end.

Also, top seeds Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe were looking for a title in the doubles Saturday, against a team that has been a nemesis for a lot of folks – Kichenok and Ostapenko. And so they were for the Cana-Kiwis.

In Bad Homburg, two unseeded players were looking for a big title. For Diana Shnaider, it was the second of her career and the second this year, over Donna Vekic.

Unfortunately, the WTA has decided to put on both singles final at EXACTLY the same time.

(Bad Homburg is 6 hours ahead of EDT; Eastbourne is 5 hours ahead)
