It had been two years since Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka squared off on a tennis court.

And this week, both with new coaches on board, they did it in a night session match in the fourth round in Beijing.

Even better, the late night time slot in Beijing meant it was a reasonable morning time slot in North America.

It lived up, in large part. Unfortunately Osaka, who had a trainer visit in the first set, was 10 minutes away from a straight-sets win when she was broken – and then broken again to lose the second set. After which she retired.
