Alex de Minaur, who squeaked past him in Paris, did the same in Belgrade.

Contender Casper Ruud is also in Metz as is Grigor Dimitrov, who is just eliminated but certainly can think about being the alternate.

But with Djokovic’s withdrawal, all three are in. So De Minaur withdrew. And then Rublev eliminated Lorenzo Sonego Tuesday – and then withdrew.

So far, Ruud – who plays Wednesday – is still in.
