Denis Shapovalov got by far the tougher of the two semifinals, as he met No. 4 seed Lehecka while two Serbian wild cards went after it in the other.
And in the end, he got through easily.
On the plus side, Novak Djokovic’s Belgrade event will have a home guy in the final.
This week is a writeoff – the players qualifying for Turin bailed out (those official photographs and such are a MASSIVE priority, of course). But with those bailouts, and other players having ended their season, comes opportunity for other players.
Shapovalov is at No. 61 in the live rankings with the win, and could move up five more with the title.
(Metz and Belgrade are 6 hours ahead of EST).
