Leylah Fernandez and partner Nadiia Kichenok had a tough task against the No. 1s, Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend. Indeed, too tough.

The No. 2 seeds, Cana-Kiwis Dabrowski and Routliffe, also had a tough one against Haddad Maia and the always tough-to-beat Laura Siegemund. But they pulled it out.
