Alex de Minaur continues his strong start to the 2025 season, as he was into the final of Rotterdam – which is an ATP 500-level event.
Regardless of the outcome, he moves up two spots to tie his career high of No. 6 – dropping Novak Djokovic down to No. 7 and Daniil Medvedev down to No. 8.
But he was up against No. 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz, who’s beaten him twice although the last time was on grass a year and a half ago. They’ve never played on hard court.
De Minaur made the final a year ago, when it was a week later, so those points will drop right off again. Still … He took Alcaraz to three, but the Spaniard won his first career indoor hard-court tournament.
In Dallas, Casper Ruud struggled, but made it to his first final on hard court since last year, looking for just his second hard-court title ever. He played Denis Shapovalov, who had a FLIER of a week and won the biggest title of his career.
(Rotterdam is 6 hours ahead of ET; Dallas is one hour behind).
