Félix Auger-Aliassime got the day off on Wednesday as opponent Hamad Medjedovic, who injured himself late in his match against Stefanos Tsitsipas but still won, gave him a walkover.

It’s never been a great matchup for FAA, who is 1-7 against Medvedev. But that one win came last summer at the Paris Olympics, so he’ll remember it well.

He had won just three sets in seven previous matches – two of them in that crazy Australian Open quarterfinal in 2022 when the Canadian was UP two sets to love, only to lose in five.
