Three Canadians in action as the men’s qualifying gets under way in Miami, with Liam Draxl squeezing in at the last minute.

Gabriel Diallo faced Watanuke and Galarneau faced burly Russian Pavel Kotov, while Draxl drew No. 4 seed Christopher O’Connell. Only Diallo prevailed.

Also – the return to the big leagues by Mikael Ymer, the former top-50 player who served an 18-month suspension for whereabouts failures, and returned in January.

But this wild card by IMG is a big step up from the smaller events he’s played (four of them) since he’s come back. Still, he made it close.
