MIAMI – Held over from Tuesday night because of the rain delays during the day. No. 1 seed Alexander Zverev got to play his fourth-round match today, while the players in the other half were playing their quarterfinals. It gave opponent Arthur Fils an extra day after a rough outing in the third round. And that was enough to oust the top seed.

As for Novak Djokovic, who looked in top form in his fourth round against Lorenzo Musetti, he was to face another younger player in American Sebastian Korda.

But, to the dismay of the crowd after the end of the Raducanu-Pegula match, it was postponed because of the lateness of the hour, per the ATP rules.

On the women’s side, Iga Swiatek probably appreciated that the draw gods decided she’d play a young wild card who’s already had the tournament of her life. But she folded, concernedly and inexplicably.
