The second week of WImbledon begins on the day that for decades, was a silent Sunday before the madness of Monday.

Progress, one assumes. But it leave the sked with four fairly tame men’s matches that probably will be low on the manic scale.

You did hope that Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev – the only matchup to makes its seeding – could light it up on Centre Court. And they did – for a bit.
