On Day 11, the ladies’ singles semifinals were finally on tap with a couple of expecteds in Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek, and a couple of surprises that weren’t without their priors. So you knew they were capable; it was a matter of execution.

Swiatek and Belinda Bencic did not have the extra day’s rest, as they played their quarterfinals on Wednesday. Bencic, who had a painful toenail, would have needed it.

Sabalenka and Anisimova was a real-life class in trying to manage your emotions – won by the underdog Anisimova.

Also, the first final of this year’s Wimbledon, with two unseeded pairs going for the mixed doubles title. And with a Brit in the mix in Joe Salisbury, they had plenty of people stay after the women’s doubles semis.
