MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

Wimbledon Day 14 – final results

From the start of Wimbledon it was “expected” that No. 1 Jannik Sinner and No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz would meet again on the second Sunday, for the second major in a row.

And so it came to be, without so much kerfuffle along the way.

Could it possibly live up to their epic in the Roland Garros final? Probably not. And it didn’t. But it was great just the same.

Meanwhile, Hsieh Su-Wei and Jelena Ostapenko winning Wimbledon doubles would be a … popular win for a lot of people. But Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova (her first major, unlike the other three) spoiked that party in a barnburner.

(Wimbledon is five hours ahead of EDT).
