After a doubleheader on Saturday – dispatched with reasonable efficiency by both Iga Swiatek and Ekaterina Alexandrova – the two top seeds met in the final.

They had played seven times, with Swiatek winning five of those – notably beaten in the fourth round of Miami last year on a night Alexandrova had one of those blinders. Which she can have.

The court appears pretty quick. So this one was a shootout. And after Swiatek couldn’t find the court in the first set, she battled back and JUST barely eked out a win in a dramatic final.
