Seven players who were in San Francisco as late as Sunday night for the Laver Cup were in action in Tokyo today, including Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz.

Fritz drew Canadian Gabriel Diallo – again, feels like. Maybe it wasn’t a bad time for the Canadian to get him, because that’s a big week to turn the page on so quickly. Especially if you win it. And, you know, he came awfully close.

All the Laver Cuppers came out of it, with the exception of Tomas Machac and Alex Michelsen. Which makes sense as they were the least experienced.

In Beijing another Cupper, Alexander Zverev, played doubles but fell.

In Beijing. No. 1 seed Jannik Sinner was in action. And it kind of feels like he has the field to himself there with all the other guys in Japan.
