With the 56-player draw, Fernandez is unseeded, and No. 11 seed Osaka Doesn’t get a first-round bye.

They’ve only played once before, and it was memorable. Fernandez came back from a set down to beat her 6-4 in the third, in the third round of the 2021 where she went on to make the final.

But beyond that, a lot of good matches in store: Muchova vs. Kostyuk (oof) and Ostapenko vs. Cirstea. And Bencic vs. Vekic.
