The Canadians get going with Gabriel Diallo (with Jenson Brooksby) opening up the main court in doubles, and Denis Shapovalov playing singles later in the day. Shapovalov squeezed through.

As well – a vets’ clash between David Goffin and Marin Cilic – made all the more intriguing because the two met in the final round of qualifying. Cilic won, with Goffin getting into the draw as a lucky loser.
