WTA Finals – Day 4 final results

Winners play winners, and losers play losers to try to get a W on the board, in these final second-round pool matches.

Could Coco Gauff reset from a not-atypical struggle with her serve and forehand and take it to Jasmine Paolini?

Surprisingly, they were 3-3. Gauff defeated her in the Wuhan semifinals last month. But Paolini won the previous three, most recently a three-set comeback win in Cincinnati on hard courts. This time, Paolini didn’t have much pushback in her.

Also – a boffo doubles match between (in our opinion) the two finest doubles teams in the world: Siniakova and Townsend and the Cana-Kiwis, Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe. After losses in their last two big encounters, Siniakova and Townsend prevail.
