And with the late withdrawals by Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev, he was the top seed remaining. But he went out to a lucky loser to end his season.

In Athens, Stan Wawrinka could play big-time spoiler as he faces Lorenzo Musetti, who is trying to supplant Auger-Aliassime and make the Turin finals. He’s coming off an encouraging and dramatic win over Botic Van de Zandschulp in the first round. He almost pulled it off – but not quite.
