MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

ATP – Sunday, March 5, 2023 final results

A very, very quiet day on the ATP side, as the tournaments in Dubai and Acapulco finished on Saturday (or early Sunday morning, depending on where you are).

The only match left was the singles final in Santiago, in which special exempt Nicolas Jarry was continuing at home what he started in Rio.

Jarry’s current ranking would get him into the main draw at Indian Wells next week. But it came too late for the deadline. It’s probably just as well, given how much tennis he’s played in the last two weeks – this final will be his 11th singles match.

Etcheverry did up getting into the main draw in the desert, after a number of withdrawals from the original list. But he won’t have a first-round bye, so that’s not much time to traval all the way from Chile and then acclimate himself to the Indian Wells hard courts after all those weeks on the red dirt.

It was a win for Jarry – a great story.

(Santiago is two hours ahead of ET).
