Easy-peasy for Vasek Pospisil at Indian Wells qualifying

INDIAN WELLS – Drawing wild card Mitchell Krueger in the first round of Indian Wells qualifying was a pretty good outcome for Canadian Vasek Pospisil.

He took full advantage in a comprehensive 6-3, 6-4 win on Stadium 2, with a full complement of Canadian snowbird fans on hand to give him rousing support.

Pospisil never faced a break point; he won 82 per cent of his first serves and more impressively, 17-of-18 points on his second serve. That’s not a stat you see every day from the 26-year-old– or many players on many days, for that matter.

Here’s how it ended.

Next up for Pospisil is American veteran Rajeev Ram, a 32-year-old who had a career singles year in 2016 (reaching a best of No. 56 in April) but who has fallen back down to No. 179 in the singles rankings.

If he wins that, he will be in the main draw.
