At a promotional event in Malagé, Spain, Rafael Nadal weighed in on the sacking of Conchita Martinez.
“Conchita had three years, did a very good job and deserves recognition because she inherited a very complicated situation. From there, the federation decided there were other people who also deserved that position, which is fair,” Nadal told El Español.
Nadal added that after the first two years, the Davis Cup players thought Martinez “deserved” a year in the World Group. They got their way.
But this time, it seems it’s the federation’s call alone.
