Aussie tennis legend Margaret Court hasn’t been the most popular person in tennis, because of her regressive views on homosexuality.
There were a few murmurs last year of players boycotting matches in the Australian Open arena named after her, but that never went too far.
The Australian referendum in December supporting same-sex marriage only inflamed the situation.
Reluctant to take a firm stand, the tournament invited her to the tournament this year, as it does all former champions. But she’s taking a pass.
“I decided not to come across this year and do more crabbing,” she said.
