MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

Channel 9 gets Au$$ie tenni$

Channel 7 has been home to the Aussie tennis summer for 40 years.

Next year, that era ends.

Rival Channel 9 outbid them by a significant sum –  five years, $300 million AUD.

Channel 7’s deal was worth $35 million annually, per reports.

“Our objective going into this process was a growth plan for exposure across the key planks of both tennis and non-tennis content, and the Nine offer best met these requirements,” Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley said.

Translation: as with so much about the Australian Open in the Tiley era, it’s really about … more money.
