Andrei Pavel now coaching Marius Copil

Andrei Pavel, the Romanian who most recently was working with countywoman Simona Halep, is the new coach of another Romanian, Marius Copil.

Copil and Andrei Mlendea, with whom he reached his peak of No. 73 last February, stopped working together a few days before the Rogers Cup last week.

“I feel that I need to change something in order to make a progress,” Copil wrote on Twitter.

Copil qualified in Cincinnati, upsetting No. 6 seed Cameron Norrie in the first round.

He’ll face Philipp Kohlschreiber in the first round of the main draw on Tuesday.
