New York Times journalist Christopher Clarey was honoured by the International Tennis Hall of Fame at its Legends Ball during US Open finals weekend.
Clarey, who has covered more than 80 Grand Slams (and 14 Olympic Games) was given the Eugene L. Scott Award, presented annually “to an individual who embodies Scott’s commitment to communicating honestly and thoroughly about the sport.”
Scott, a former player, was the publisher of the late, much-lamented Tennis Week magazine.
A thorough reporter and talented writer, Clarey is an oasis of reason in the opinionated and haphazard world of tennis media.
