It was a long slog.

And most of the time it wasn’t a pretty one.

There were moments of brilliance, moments of … failure to execute in timely fashion.

And there indisputably were a whole lot of nerves in a US Open final that won’t go into the books as a classic, but has significant far beyond the level of the tennis.
