Half of the women’s second round of qualifying is on deck, with Canadian Rebecca Marino taking on a player who’s actually several years older than she is – Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine.

Bondarenko has come back from two maternity leaves, and is still cooking (pardon the pun).

She and Marino practiced together Monday, before their respective first rounds. And maybe that helped a little bit, as Marino is through in straight sets and into the final round.
