MELBOURNE, Australia – The sentimental favorite against the last man to win a Grand Slam title squared off in the Australian Open men’s singles final.
And in a remarkable comeback that gave him his 21st Grand Slam title, Rafael Nadal added to his legacy.
Before that, the No. 1 team in the world, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova had a heck of a time againt the upstart unseeded pair of Beatriz Haddad Maia and Anna Danilinina.
But in the end, they game good.

Forgo to mention how much I thoroughly enjoyed the Women’s Doubles final. Lots of incredible rallies, & result in doubt until the end.
I called it on AO Radio. Not the BEST tennis, but good drama and the underdogs made it exciting until the end.
That was an absolutely unbelievable comeback by Nadal! He looked so out of it after the first two sets, but he seemed to get stronger as the match went on, & Medvedev seemed to fade. So strange considering Nadal is much the older of the two.
The GOAT debate will rage on, but personally, I think that what Nadal has accomplished, even if he doesn’t win the most Slam titles, with his congenital Muller-Weiss disease, gives him the intangible edge.
