Rebecca Marino was still in the singles and doubles in Granby – getting more opportunities to win matches by virtue of having squeezed into the US Open main and not having to play the qualifying there this week.

By the end of the day, she was out of singles, but still in the doubles.

And No. 1 seed Daria Kasatkina, who came to Granby in search of match wins after tough draws in Toronto and Cincinnati, is getting exactly what the tennis doctor ordered.
