It came down to the US – which dominated Poland 5-0 in the semifinals – and Italy in the finals of an inaugural United Cup that feels like it started a year ago.

Actually, it did.

But we digress.

The American team was deep top to bottom. The Italians basically had to win both of the men’s singles, and then hope for something great to happen in one of the other three matches.

With Lorenzo Musetti’s injury retirement, it was basically all over but the shouting.
