ROME – After Tuesday’s madness, it calmed down considerably on the men’s side with just two singles and two doubles matches on the docket for Wednesday.

But just as the No. 1 and No. 7 seeds play on the women’s side in the quarters (No. 7 being Rybakina), the draw gods had it that Novak Djokovic and Holger Rune – also No. 1 and No. 7 – drew each other in the quarterfinals.

When you consider the other quarter is Ruud vs Cerundolo, That’s tough luck for both.

But in the end, Rune prevailed over the No. 1 again.
