He was to face much-talked-about young French player Arthur Fils in the last of the four quarterfinals to be played Thursday. But he pulled out late with a shoulder issue.

In Geneva, No. 1 seed and last year’s RG finalist Casper Ruud was (kind of) shocked by Nicolas Jarry in the quarterfinals.

It’s been a rough year for him.
