PARIS – Typically, the final round of qualifying is played for both the men and women on the same day – as far as we can remember, anyway.

But for whatever reason, Roland Garros only played … 14 of the 32 final-round matches on Thursday. Perhaps they schedule it over five days in case there are weather issues. Which this year, has not been the case at all.

The remaining 18 happened Friday.

And then the qualifiers and lucky losers were placed.
