After six months – okay, not quite, it’s only Day 13 of the Rolex Shanghai Masters – they’ve finally arrived at the finals stage

That the two left standing are the No. 5 and No. 16 seeds is not that much of a shock, at this time of the year.

But if Andrey Rublev won over Hubert Hurkacz, not only would he move up to a career high No. 4, he would have sealed his spot at the ATP Finals. He almost did; in the end, it was Hurkacz with another third-set tiebreak special – this one 10-8.
