MONTREAL – A lot going on Sunday and Monday at the Omnium Banque Nationale Monday, with the weather holding up early but getting messy later on.
Alex Michelsen showed himself to be a pretty loosey-goosey, happy-to-lucky guy as he joked about his good luck in squeaking into the main draw, and grilled Pedro Martinez of Spain about his spiffy fresh haircut.
(These two would appear to have absolutely nothing in common at ALL. But they seemed quite friendly).
Upon learning Martinez had it cut on site at the players’ hair salon, he declared he was going to get himself some that (I didn’t have a chance to follow up to see if he did).
Alexander Zverev sported a pretty hideous tank top, with doubles specialist Marcelo Melo – an omnipresent staple at some tournaments – hovering around the practice court.
Andrey Rublev and Tommy Paul had a power forehand contest.
The previous day there were just as many players out there, including Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, Arthur Fils, Grigor Dimitrov, Billy Harris, Mattia Bellucci and Nicolas Jarry.
And here’s a photo gallery of Monday’s action around the practice courts.
