So alternate Daria Kasatkina jumped in, in a match that was meaningful only in terms of money and points (assuming Swiatek won – which she did), because Swiatek’s fate was literally in the hands of Barbora Krejcikova.

And Krejcikova, whose qualification for the finals was much dissed, through no fault of her own, played spoiler.

For the Cana-Kiwis, they went 3-0 with a win in their final round-robin match – another comeback win.
